Listing rules
Every listing is checked against these rules when it is published, and staff can remove a listing that breaks them at any time. They exist so a buyer can trust what an airbag is and where it came from.
Used OEM only
A listing must be an original-equipment part removed from a specific donor vehicle. On every part listing the seller attests that the part is used OEM from the donor vehicle, undeployed, has no open recall that the seller is aware of after checking, and is not aftermarket, replica or rebuilt. All four attestations are required to publish.
No aftermarket, deployed or recalled parts
Aftermarket, replica, counterfeit, "universal", rebuilt or re-covered airbags; deployed or previously deployed modules; inflators or modules under an open NHTSA recall; parts with cut, spliced or repaired wiring; and any part whose label or part number has been removed or altered may not be listed. See the Prohibited Items Policy for the full list.
Donor VIN and proof of origin
Each part listing carries the 17-character VIN of the donor vehicle (checked for a valid check digit) and an uploaded proof-of-origin document — the auction invoice, title, salvage certificate or bill of sale for that vehicle — kept on file by the marketplace. Services and the few categories marked as not requiring a VIN are the only exceptions. The VIN also appears on the sales invoice the seller gives the buyer.
One part per listing
Every part is unique, so a listing is exactly one unit with quantity 1. Sellers with several identical parts list each one separately with its own donor VIN and photos. Lots, bundles and "pick one" listings are not allowed. (Mail-in services may set a capacity instead.)
Photos
- At least 4 photos per part (up to 12), taken by the seller of the actual part being sold. Stock, catalog or manufacturer images are not allowed.
- Show the part number label, the connector(s), the front and back of the cover or housing, and any wear, marks or damage.
- No watermarks that hide the part, no text overlays with prices or contact details, no other sellers' photos.
Titles
- 3 to 90 characters, describing the part: typically donor year, make, model, the part, the position and the part number. Example: 2019 Toyota Camry Driver Steering Wheel Airbag 45130-06510.
- No keyword stuffing, no "OEM-style", "fits all", "new" or "like new", no ALL-CAPS titles, and no contact information.
- Use the category and position fields for what they are for; the title does not replace them.
Descriptions
Describe the specific part: what it came out of, its condition, what is included and what is not. Descriptions may not contain phone numbers, emails, website addresses, invitations to deal off the marketplace, or claims that e-airbags.com inspected, tested or certified the part. Basic HTML formatting is kept; scripts, styles and images in the description are removed.
Pricing, shipping and offers
- Prices are in US dollars and include everything except the shipping charge shown on the listing and sales tax.
- Shipping is a flat ground charge set by the seller (or free). The carrier must be allowed for the category — see Shipping rules.
- Best Offers are on by default; sellers can set a minimum or turn them off per listing.
Fitment information
Sellers may list the vehicles a part fits. That information is provided in good faith by the seller; buyers are told on every listing to verify fitment with their VIN. A fitment list is not a guarantee of fit.
Categories and positions
Choose the most specific category. Steering wheels that include the airbag, retractors with pretensioners and all airbag modules are hazmat categories with carrier restrictions; listing a hazmat part in a non-hazmat category to avoid them is a serious violation.
Enforcement
Listings that break these rules are removed with a reason shown in the Seller Hub. Repeated or deliberate violations — especially aftermarket or deployed airbags, false attestations or false documents — end the seller account and may be reported to the authorities. Buyers can report a listing from the contact page.
